Instead of ion exchangers and hydrophobic adsorbents Upfront employs proprietary mixed mode ligands that reversibly bind target protein molecules, even at high ionic strength. This is of particular relevance in certain industrial applications where the crude raw material often contains relatively high salt concentrations.

Upfront’s broad range of mixed mode binding ligands capture specific soluble proteins and peptides directly from the raw material, thereby providing a high degree of selectivity in the process. Proteins can be further fractionated by means of different elution conditions to generate a range of specialised, functional protein products.
